๐Ÿ“– Chess About

Chess brings classic chess to your browser. You can play against the computer, against online opponents or against a friend sitting next to you, and you can also solve chess puzzles.

About Chess

When the game opens, you pick a mode first. In computer mode there are several difficulty levels, so a beginner can try out how the pieces move against an easy opponent. In friend mode, two people take turns on the same screen. To move, click or tap the piece you want to play, then the square where it should go.

The most educational part is the chess puzzles. The board is set up in a ready-made position and you have to find the right continuation in a set number of moves. These puzzles teach you patterns like forks, skewers and mating nets, which are hard to spot in a real game. Puzzles, computer games and online games each have their own leaderboard.

Why do kids love this game?

The pride of winning feels different from other games, because the victory comes entirely from your own thinking. Puzzles are short, and each one feels like a little riddle to solve.

Is this game safe for kids?

Chess itself is a purely mental game, and the screen shows only the board and pieces. Online mode can match you with real players, so for younger kids, playing the computer or a family member on the same device is the easier choice.

๐ŸŽฏ How to Play

  1. Pick a mode from the main menu: computer, online, friend or puzzles.
  2. If you play the computer, choose an easy difficulty first.
  3. Click or tap the piece you want to move.
  4. Click the square where the piece should go to finish your move.
  5. Wait for your opponent's move and study the new position.
  6. Try to checkmate by attacking the enemy king so it has no escape.
  7. In puzzle mode, find the right sequence of moves in the given position.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips & Tricks

  • Hold the center: moving pawns and knights toward the middle early gives your pieces room to move.
  • Protect your king: castling early tucks the king into the corner and brings the rook into play.
  • Check threats first: before every move, see what your opponent's last move is attacking.
  • Trade by value: do not give up your queen for a pawn, and remember how much rooks and bishops are worth.
  • One puzzle a day: short puzzles teach you forks and mating patterns faster than full games.

โšก Features

  • Four game modes: computer, online, friend on the same device, and puzzles.
  • Difficulty levels: the computer opponent goes from beginner to experienced.
  • Chess puzzles: lots of ready-made positions for tactics practice.
  • Separate leaderboards: online games, puzzles and computer games are ranked apart.
  • Click and play: clicking a piece and a target square is all it takes to move.
  • Works on any screen: use a mouse on a computer, or touch on a phone or tablet.
