You start with nothing but a stick. Hitting trees and rocks earns you wood and stone, and those resources let you place structures like ovens, walls and traps.

Ovens earn you gold continuously, so real progress comes from keeping them standing. But those same ovens make you a target: other players want to tear your village down and take what you've gathered.

So the game is a balance between building and defending. Spread too wide and you can't protect it; hunker down too tight and you never grow.
