About Hedgies!

It all starts in the field: you plant seeds, wait for the crops to ripen, then harvest them and carry them to the kitchen. The fruits and veggies you pick become ingredients for new recipes, and the finished dishes help you complete quests and expand your home.

There is plenty to do away from the field too. You fish at the pond, sew clothes and hats at the tailor's table, and meet your neighbors in the valley and help them out. Crops ripen at different speeds, so the real skill is deciding what to start and when. There is also the Battle of Tailors, where hedgehogs compete with the outfits they sew and the winner gets a cute super hat.

Why do kids love this game?

The hedgehogs are cute characters with aprons and hats and tiny household things to fuss over. Watching an empty plot fill up with color a bit more each day, and decorating the garden any way they like, lets kids build a little corner of their own.

Is this game safe for kids?

There is no fighting and nothing scary, just planting, cooking and decorating. You can visit other players' farms, so younger kids should play with a grown-up during the first sessions.

1. Tap an empty plot in the field with your mouse or finger and pick a seed.
2. Click the crop to harvest it once it is ripe.
3. Head to the kitchen and cook a dish from the recipe list with your ingredients.
4. Open the quest list and fulfill your neighbors' requests.
5. Go to the pond, cast the rod and collect the fish you catch.
6. Sew clothes at the tailor's table and join the Battle of Tailors.
7. Use your rewards to arrange your garden and house the way you like.

• Save long crops for last: plant slow-ripening crops before you leave, so they are ready when you come back.
• Plant for your quests: instead of random seeds, grow whatever the open quest asks for to move faster.
• Compare recipes: one ingredient can go into several dishes, so pick the one with the bigger reward.
• Visit the neighbors: helping other hedgehogs earns you rewards too.
